Reflections on life, presence, and the world as I walk through it.
The 27th annual National Press Club members photography exhibit
Five of my photographs are featured in the 27th annual National Press Club Members Photography Exhibit in Washington, D.C. This year’s exhibition brings together 237 photographs from 55 members exploring “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness” as America marks 250 years.
I Miss You
An aircraft passes silently across an enormous setting sun—a fleeting moment that becomes a meditation on distance, memory, and the people we wish were closer.
Fog and Crows
A quiet morning in Washington, D.C. as dense fog blankets the city and a solitary crow emerges from the haze. A reflection on urban wildlife, atmosphere, and the enduring presence of crows along the capital's waterfront.
Gallipoli Campaign
A reflection on rewatching Gallipoli and how films like Das Boot and Schindler’s List shaped my understanding of loss, solitude, and the human cost of war. Rather than finding meaning in sacrifice, I’m drawn to the individual lives behind it—and what it reveals about my own values.
Monks Walk for Peace
Photographs from the Monks Walk for Peace and reflections on ritual, endurance, and collective movement.
Freedom Rides
A reflection on freedom, tradition, and how small acts of autonomy reshape social structures over time.
Economies of Forward Motion
A reflection on three films and the quiet persistence of forward motion as a measure of life.
The Great Yawn of History
A reflection on waiting, endurance, and the quiet persistence of ordinary lives.
Four Fundamental Truths
A reflection on trauma, healing, and how deeper artistic expression emerges through awareness and connection.
First Snow in DC
Photographs from DC’s first major snow, capturing people, movement, and winter energy.
New Books, Chess Practice, and Printing Again
New books, steady chess practice, and a return to printing photography.
MLK March: Portraits and Remembrance
Photographs and reflections from the MLK March, focused on portraiture, emotion, and remembrance.
Working Fast, Seeing Slow
A reflection on speed, attention, and why slowing the eye matters when photographing motion.
Moments, Margins, and the Long Way Here
A reflection on career, chance, and the narrow margins that quietly shape a life.
Deactivating the Noise
A reflection on stepping away from social media to reclaim quiet, clarity, and presence.
Distance Decay
A reflection on distance, absence, and how the quiet after love slowly reshapes the inner landscape.
Directional Flow Theory
A reflection on directional flow, tai chi, and photography—how motion, repetition, and awareness shape the way we see and feel the world.
The Plant That Lives With Me
A quiet meditation on snowfall, pacing, and the silent companionship of a houseplant that reminds me to keep living, growing, and noticing the small things that endure.
Post-Holiday Silence
When the holiday noise fades and family disperses, the quiet feels unreal. What once blended into the background suddenly reappears—objects, creaks, thoughts. A reflection on connection, memory, and the strange weight of silence.
Stay Golden
A meditation on the importance of staying grounded in grace, holding onto the parts of ourselves that shine even through hardship and transition.
